INVERTED
latex, wood, textile, metal, plastic, makeup
I made a cast of my body,
I cut it up and embroidered it,
changed myself,
decorated myself,
I tailored my skin into something beautiful.
“Inverted”, with its exaggerated qualities, imitates how adjusting the physical appearance is being used as a way of masking or fixing inner dissatisfaction.
SHOE BOX
clay, metal, cardboard, video
What is the innocence of childhood?
I wondered if the physical destruction of the shoes could convey the sense of an irreversible action and a lifetime memory. Its collected remains thus became its final phase. The process of making and destruction became the work.

THE UNSPOKEN
Audio, foam board, plastic, lights
Eighteen almost identical white Victorian houses are together forming a typical London street.

The Unspoken draws attention to the issue of female genital mutilation/circumcision which is still very much present practice today. In the UK female genital mutilation/circumcision is prohibited, that is why the procedures are carried out in private homes behind closed doors. The consequences that such a ritual leaves on the lives of women and girls are frightening.
The sound clip coming from one of the houses contains pieces of real stories of five powerful women who have undergone the procedure.
